Sunday February 23rd: Made to love

“But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.”

Luke 6: 27-38

The commands in today’s Gospel like, “Love your enemies”, “Be kind to those who persecute you”, “Turn the other cheek” and “Forgive those who harm you” can seem humanly impossible unless we remember to believe that we are made in the image and likeness of God.

Since our purpose is to love God and serve God in this world and in the next, then, we carry within our DNA the orientation to love, that is, …to want and to wish well for every single created thing.

As Trini Children of God, we are inspired by soca from Machel’s Pardy and Farmer Nappy’s Feeling Real Good, to do our best and leave the rest for God.

Machel says: “Hard work without smart work Nah work.”

Farmer Nappy sings: “When dey do meh wrong, I does do them right, I am just a man, who does pray at night.”

For Pilgrims of Hope, the “Smart Work” is “Prayer”, and the result of prayer is living, looking and feeling real good. Orar …To pray is to work… Believers: Be who you are!
