“Do not even go into the village.”
Mark 8:22-26
Jesus had performed many miracles in Bethsaida, but the people had little faith. Yet they brought him a blind man and begged him to “touch him.” To heal the man, Jesus took him to this place outside of the village. He isolates the man from those of little faith.
It is difficult for us to be taken to a place that we do not know. It is uncomfortable. Most likely, the man may not have known that place because it was outside of where he was accustomed — outside of his experiences.
Isolation of any kind is never comfortable. But on this journey to go to this unknown place, Jesus took him by the hand. So often when God wants to make us ‘whole and holy,’ he must first isolate us from the situation/s with which we have become comfortable. Like the man, he also holds our hands, gives us new sight and encourages us not to go back to our old ways. “Do not even go into the village.”,
