“…And they took offense at him.”
Mark 6:1-6
I have often noticed that people struggle to recognise and appreciate greatness or superiority, especially when it comes from someone they know well. What could that individual have done to develop or acquire such exceptional skills?
In the case of Jesus, His miraculous works puzzled His relatives and the residents of His hometown. They found it difficult to accept His extraordinary abilities, considering that He grew up in an average family.
Jesus’s profound wisdom drew from both heaven and earth. He possessed an unwavering calmness that enabled Him to grasp the true significance of events and experiences. This wisdom resulted from His earthly life as well as His divine origin.
However, in our everyday lives—amid misunderstanding and hurt, as well as care and compassion—the grace of God and His love remain active and present.
Let us ask our Heavenly Father to help us recognise this light that may shine from ourselves, our coworkers, siblings, and others around us, and to be grateful for the work the Holy Spirit continues to do.
