Sunday February 2nd: Believing in His Promise

‘…he took him into his arms and blessed God; and he said: Now, Master, you are letting your servant go in peace as you promised;’

Luke 2:22-40

These words invite us to reflect on the transformative power of encountering Christ in our lives as well as challenge us to examine our own faith and believe in God’s promise to us.

Are we able to recognize God’s presence in our lives, even when it comes in unexpected ways – in the everyday moments of our lives—in the people we meet, in acts of kindness, and in prayer?

Simeon’s example reminds us to open our eyes to God’s work in the world around us and also to live with a sense of purpose and readiness, trusting that God’s promises will be fulfilled in His perfect timing. He was patient. His words are a powerful reminder that peace is found in surrendering to God’s plan and embracing His presence.

Like Simeon, may we learn to hold Christ close, to believe in his promise, and to live with a heart ready to bless God and “go in peace” whenever He calls.
