“The time is always right to do what is right.”
Mark 3:1-6
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, ‘The time is always right to do what is right.” Our lives are shaped by every decision and action we take and when faced with varied options or conflicting situations some of the best advice I’ve heard is to just do the next right thing.
There are two lessons to be learned in today’s Gospel. Jesus teaches us that in life, we must never let anything stop us from doing good, once we ask the right questions and choose the response that put the best interest of people to the forefront.
The Pharisees teach us that it is possible to misdirect our focus and energies. Imagine if the same energy they used to plot to kill, they had harnessed to foster growth and healing in the community instead. Imagine if we do the same. What a wonderful world we could create!
In this Jubilee year, I ask God for courage, that I may do what I know to be right by all people.
