Friday January 10th: His Healing Touch

No suffering, no condition can separate us from God’s mercy.

Luke 5:12-16

A leper said to Jesus, “Sir, if you want to, you can cure me.” He makes a humble plea. All prayer is based in humility. We come to God, not to impose our will or convert God to our way, but to humbly submit ourselves.

Jesus reaches out and touches the leper and says, “Of course, I want to!” This touch communicates more than healing; it conveys acceptance, love, and dignity to someone who had been an outcast. It also says that no suffering, no condition can separate us from God’s mercy.

After healing the leper, Jesus instructs him to show himself to the priest and offer the prescribed sacrifices. Jesus respected the Law and knew the importance of gratitude and public testimony to God’s work. This healing would be a testimony to both the priests and the community.

The passage ends with Jesus going to a lonely place to pray, implying that His ministry is rooted in His relationship with the Father. He prioritized prayer and communion with God.
