Monday December 30th: Devotion to God

“She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying”.

Luke 2 :36-40

The other day I bounce up my confirmation tutor in a fete. So, I started to sing, “Long time me eh see yuh!!!!!” She told me that she no longer attended my church because life got hard, she went through a nasty divorce followed by the death of her mother and that she was angry with God for a really long time. She promised me that I would see her”one of these good days ”
Let’s contrast her with Ana who was married for only seven years then lost her husband and you know what she did? She dedicated the rest of her days to praying and fasting. What beauty and power exists for a person who lives a life dedicated to God! They never give up; they never truly walk away. They are invincible!
As we journey into 2025, I pray that we find our inner Ana, that we spend our moments of sorrow in the bosom of Jesus, and may we recognise and marvel at the blessings that God has bestowed on us in spite of our hardships.
