Holy Innocents

What have you really done?

Matthew 2:13-18

Herod! What have you really done?
You tried to kill God’s own Son!!

You sit cowardly within your palace walls,
sending your soldiers to kill all those little boys!?

You with your ego, so afraid to be replaced,
Caused bloodshed and havoc in Rachael’s place!!!

With your purple robes and all your rings,
HEROD!
You tried to slaughter the King of Kings!!!

Nah! It must be a mistake
Them soldiers get it wrong
A big man like you can’t be so insecure about a baby after your crown

REALLY???

And what about us??

When we use our position and our might
To slay so many young ones on sight.

We kill without sword or spear or horseman
But with our tongues, that deadly weapon.

Afraid that our time may soon be up
Cause they’re growing up,
and like we growing stop.

On the job, in the church, all over society
And, sad to say, even among the clergy.

We should embrace these young ppl ability
Instead, we invoke the Herod inside ah we.

Come let’s speak words of peace, love and encouragement
Cause just like Christ,
Our young ppl are all heaven sent.
