Tuesday December 17th: Perfect my imperfect family

Despite what may be trying to tear our families apart, God is ever present, and he can change our story.

Matthew 1:1-17

Families are important. That is why St. Lucy, the visionary of Fatima, predicted that the final battle between Christ and Satan would be over marriage and families. They are the basic social unit to which we belong, it is our domestic church and our foundation.
Today’s gospel reminds us that sometimes we get distracted by what is going on in our families and forget that Jesus had a family too. Jesus’s family was not all perfect, and there are also some characters involved.
However, it is a beautiful testimony that God can change the story of our family, no matter what we have been through. We must remember Our Lady’s prophecy at Fatima that, “In the end, Her Immaculate Heart will reign.” This means that despite what may be trying to tear our families apart, God is ever present, and he can change our story.
As we gather around the advent wreath as a family this Advent season, may the hope, love, joy, and peace encircle us and transform our families.
