“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest…”
Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus’ words are undoubtedly a tremendous source of comfort and consolation to all who hear this Gospel today.
He is a flow of fresh air to the wearied soul, the troubled soul, the puzzled soul, the forlorn soul, the depressed soul, the lost soul, the lonely soul, the forgotten soul, the unhappy soul – in fact anyone out there who feels alone, abandoned or neglected in any way. That is easily all of us, at some time or other.
What does Jesus invite us to do? He invites us simply to “come” to Him, to stay with Him and to rest in Him. What unfathomable Love! To whom else shall we turn? Our souls are truly restless until they rest in You, Jesus. Thank you for allowing us to come to You and rest in You.
Jesus, Your love for us already makes our burden lighter. Thank You, thank You!
