Living The Christian Life

By N Mohammed
Do you remember trying to take a break from your busy, bustling brain activity, to ponder about life’s challenges, only to realise that you have been on the receiving end of ingratitude a lot more than usual?

You are always turning the other cheek, letting people float by on the clouds of blessings with the favour of the Almighty, which is your God-given birthright. Let’s pause for a second or two…

Storytime…

Naw…

Let’s do random thoughts!

Thinking… all the times you exchanged shifts with that co-worker. The endless other related duties you performed tirelessly at the workplace – no recognition, no compensation. The long-lasting prayerful sessions – novenas, rosaries for specific intentions. The never-ending favours you did for people – no hesitation, no reservations.

The money you lent delightedly; the charity work you do anonymously. The reputations you could have soiled with truth and not persuasion… perpetually.

The love you gave … continually.

The food you shared… willingly.

The time you spared … endlessly.

The helping hand… readily.

The assistance you rendered… voluntarily.

The treasure you contributed… cheerfully.

The words of comfort… sparingly.

The smile issued… gladly.

The way you cared… wholeheartedly.

But when it’s your turn to receive from the Lord’s bounty, only the Lord is there!

Sigh…

This world can appear gut-churning, insupportable, and revolting somewhat. After all, “No man’s an island”. Right! The ingratitude can surely saturate and infiltrate your sanity… Your only recourse “God put ah hand… or send a man”. We have all been here.

Living a Christian life is indeed an interesting choice; the bumpy rides, endless pit stops, curves, valleys, turns, twists, potholes galore, wavy terrain (like the Bocas), roundabouts and endless traffic (like the one by PriceSmart). Whew!!!

Breathe deeply and remember…

“God is in control and has good plans for you” Jeremiah 29:11.

“God’s plans for those who love him are always good” Romans 8:28.

“God is with you and he will strengthen and help you” Isaiah 41:10.

Onward Christian Soldier!

God will ensure that your good deeds do not go unnoticed.

Ecclesiastes 3:13
