“You are not to prepare your defense”
Luke 21:12-19
Jesus also gave his disciples warning signs of the future: they would be persecuted for His name, also in front of kings and leaders. However, that would be the opportunity for them to bear witness to His name.
No wonder, most of His disciples refused to stop preaching in His name. They trusted in Jesus’ words. “You are not to prepare your defense.”
Ten of the twelve handpicked, chosen disciples were martyred. Jesus had promised:
1. To give them the eloquence and wisdom that none of their opponents would be able to resist or contradict and
2. That their endurance will bring them eternal life.
Jesus’ disciples were imperfect as we are. Peter denied Jesus 3 times but admitted that he was a sinful man and asked forgiveness.
Eventually, Peter gave his life for Jesus’ name. Do you want eternal life? Then trust Jesus’ words. Eternal life is promised to all who believe in Him, in Jesus.
