Wednesday November 13th: Transformation by faith

‘Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.’

Luke 17:11-19

There is a difference between being cured and being healed.

Curing focuses on the physical elimination of disease or symptoms. It is concrete and measurable: in the case of leprosy, skin lesions are removed, sores and physical deformities disappear.

Healing, on the other hand, is much broader. It is the restoration of the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. The person is transformed. It is a new person.

Jesus recognizes that only one leper, the Samaritan, has truly been healed, the others were cleansed.

This passage reminds us that while God indeed meets our physical and material needs, He is calling us to a deeper spiritual renewal, a transformation.

The grateful Samaritan leper has been transformed by his faith and can now go in peace with God.
