A step towards sustainability and safety

The academic block at the Seminary of St John Vianney & Uganda Martyrs urgently needs your help to ensure the safety and security of its environment. After years of patching and temporary fixes, the roof has deteriorated to a point where it poses serious health and safety risks.

Current issues

The existing roof has significant structural problems. Termites have extensively damaged the wooden timbers, jeopardising the integrity of the building. Additionally, the electrical lines running through the roof are at risk, as water penetration has become a critical issue. During torrential rains, leaks occur, causing damage and disrupting study periods for students and faculty alike.

Project details

We are planning a complete roof replacement during the upcoming dry season, spanning four months. The renovation will involve:
• Constructing new roof support using I-beams and purlins for enhanced stability
• Applying two coats of grey oxide paint to protect the new structures
• Installing new wave galvanise roofing sheets along with a radiant heat barrier to improve energy efficiency
• Adding ridge caps, fascia, under ceiling, and soffits to ensure a comprehensive and durable roofing solution
This project not only aims to protect the building but also to maintain an inclusive environment that welcomes individuals of all faiths.

Call to action

We invite you to join us in this vital endeavour. Your generous contributions will help us create a safe and conducive learning environment for all students at the Seminary. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a significant difference in achieving our goal.
Together, let’s secure the future of the academic block and ensure it continues to be a place of learning and growth for years to come.

Give generously and be part of this transformative project!
