‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’
Luke 17: 7-10
Jesus continues to respond to His disciples’ request to increase their faith. He highlights to them, and therefore to each of us, the importance of humble submission, in our discipleship of Christ.
Following Christ means doing God’s Holy Will, not out of a sense of obligation, but more-so because our hearts are filled with unwavering Love for God. Nothing else. So, when we are obedient to what God says, it is important for us to understand that we are doing nothing greater than the next person, but only that we are servants of God.
None of us, as a Christian disciple, can lay claim to the graciousness of God for ourselves only. In fulfilling the demands of our Christian discipleship, we are simply and humbly doing our God-appointed duty.
Let us do so with Love, with Gratitude and with faith-filled Confidence.
