‘Stop turning my Father’s house into a market ‘
John 2:13-22
Jesus was angry when he found people selling cattle, sheep, pigeons, and there were money changers in the Temple. He chased them out and told them to stop turning his Father’s house into a market.
Today we consider our churches to be the Father’s house. Do we respect it as such? After Mass on the weekend, have you noticed how in many churches there are loud conversations? Many people stay back and even form groups to discuss different matters, and they do not talk in whispers.
I usually stay back a short while to pray but there is always this disturbing noise of people turning the Father’s house into a market. It seems that they do not realise that Jesus is truly present in the Tabernacle.
Lord, let us be conscious that you are truly present in the Blessed Sacrament and that we should show our respect by being silent in your presence.
