Delaford RC march against crime and violence

Being one of two Catholic schools on the island of Tobago, the Delaford RC School embarked on one of the events on its calendar for the school year. This took the form of a march against crime, violence, and bullying.

In solidarity, teachers, students, parents, and even members of the Eternal Light Community and other stakeholders of this small, once peaceful village of Delaford, took to the streets with placards.

Having recently celebrated Mission Day with its sister school, Scarborough RC, the mission of those on this march was to send a clear message to the wider community to make Tobago safe and peaceful once again through prayer, righteousness and commitment to Christ.

The decision to host this walk against crime, violence and bullying came on the heels of a series of shootings and murders in and around the neighbouring communities which have created an aura of fear and insecurity across the island. The principal, staff and other stakeholders remain both prayerful and hopeful that their message against crime, violence and bullying was received in the hearts of those near and far. They hope to see a transformation in the lives of those who have chosen a life of crime and violence in their community and by extension the whole of T&T. —Representative, Delaford RC
