How does Alzheimer’s differ from dementia? Who’s at risk? What steps can people take to prevent or fight Alzheimer’s?

These were just some of the questions that were addressed at the free Alzheimer’s & Dementia seminar Saturday, October 19, hosted by the Archdiocese of Nassau and led by Eulie Elliott, Director of Office of Family Life.

A Facebook post from the Archdiocese of Nassau said the day was one of learning, understanding and awareness of the disease.

Archbishop Patrick Pinder of Nassau welcomed the attendees ranging from caregivers to medical professionals to the curious, who participated in the one-day seminar at St Joseph’s Parish Hall.

Dr Theresa Clarke, PHD Cognitive Health LLC was the keynote speaker. Other presenters were Alexis Finlayson-Hanna, on ‘The Healing Journey;’ Betty Fox-Roker, who addressed ‘Taking Care of the Caregiver’, and Anna Smith on ‘Caring for a Loved One’.
