St. John Paul II
The Lord respects our reality.
Luke 12:35-38
We often describe life as a journey, having seasons, chapters, hills, and valleys, and each is at a different stage of any given time. Ecclesiastes 3:1tells us, “There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven…”
This is why being prepared with lamps lighted can look different for any one of us at any given point in time. The season of the retired grandparent is not that of a young, first-time mother. Someone grieving a significant loss will not manifest the same emotional roadmap as the person celebrating a major milestone. For every season, the quality of our light will be different. Our Lord understands this. Whatever He asks of us, His call to action always respects our reality.
The most important thing is that there is light, there is action. Whether we are basking in the goodness of God or struggling with our prayer life, let us hold on tight to our faith. If we do, we will be ready, whenever the Lord comes.
