“For your part, you must have these words constantly in mind.”
Luke 9:43-45
The people were awestruck by the “greatness of God and in full admiration for all that He did.”
It’s so easy to praise and admire a God who does good things for us: healing our illnesses, raising our dead, exorcising our demons. We want to be around Him, constantly in His presence, and talking about Him….Ent??
Jesus, however, in the midst of that admiration, urged His disciples to always remember that He is destined to suffer.
Many times, we as Christians are also on a high as the people in this Gospel story. We get caught up in the euphoria of a“Prosperity Gospel,” holding on to only the mountain top experiences, and devastated when we are caused to endure valley situations.
Jesus, in verse 44, was highlighting that suffering, at the hands of men, is part of His journey. And so, it is a part of our journey as well.
Lord Jesus, prepare us to gracefully and faithfully manage trials and struggles that come our way.
