This personal identification of who Jesus is shapes our relationship with Him, influencing how we live, worship, and witness.
Luke 9: 18 – 22
Identifying Jesus truthfully is the cornerstone of our faith. Peter’s declaration that Jesus is “The Christ of God” is the key. Our faith is built on recognizing that Jesus is not merely a prophet or a good man but the promised Saviour. Without this truth, our faith loses its substance and direction.
Jesus’ question moves from a general query about the crowd’s opinion to a personal challenge: “But what about you?” This shift says that faith is not about popular opinion but about a personal encounter and relationship with Jesus. Each of us must answer Jesus’ question. Who is Jesus to us? This personal identification of who Jesus is shapes our relationship with Him, influencing how we live, worship, and witness.
Recognizing Jesus as the Christ leads us to a life of discipleship. It changes us forever! When we see Him as the Messiah it makes us follow Him, even when it leads to the cross. Identifying Jesus truthfully means embracing His mission and participating in it, carrying our crosses and proclaiming His Gospel to the world.
