“He called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases.”
Luke 9:1-6
Jesus reveals to us that no man is an island unto himself. Jesus is part of the trinitarian community: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There is a purpose for every person; a call to live simply with total dependence on God.
How many of us are really serious about this walk and are willing to minister to the Kingdom? Visualize walking up a ladder that is attached to a slide, struggling, holding both sides and climbing. Finally, we make it to the top! The ride down is smooth and so we slide into the valley.
The journey up the ladder was the preparation for us to be equipped for the mission. Jesus gave His disciples power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases. Will two tunics be important, or food or money, when the Creator of it all, is sending us out? The disciples have been prepared and Jesus is preparing us today. Healing occurred out of obedience and detachment.
