Jesus invited everyone to come to Him and share in His life.
Luke 8: 1 – 3
Today’s brief and seemingly straightforward passage offers deep insights into Jesus’ public ministry and the role of women in the early Christian Community.
Jesus was a true itinerant. He did not limit Himself to one place or one group or one way. The itinerant preacher is free, not tied to places or to baggage. In that way they are free to proclaim the Good News everywhere and to everyone.
As a true itinerant, Jesus was able to move beyond barriers. We see Him sitting at the Pharisees’ tables and with sinners and outcasts. He went to the home of the wealthy Zacchaeus and to the margins. Today we see Him including women in what was essentially a man’s world.
Jesus’ itinerant spirit made Him broadminded and far reaching. He is truly a model for our time. Do our Christian ministry and outlook embrace Jesus’ openness and welcome to all, and genuinely reflect the nature of the Kingdom of God? Jesus invited everyone to come to Him and share in His life.
