Sunday September 15th: In His image and likeness

“But you,” he asked them, “who do you say I am?”

Mark 8:27-35

Have you ever wondered what people say about you? Jesus initially asks his disciples what people think of him, but he follows up with a deeper and personal inquiry about who they personally believe him to be. What about you? Have you ever wondered what God thinks of you? Who Jesus says you are!

He says we are made in his image and likeness. He says that he chose us and commissioned us to bear fruit that will last. He says that we are no longer to be called servants but friends. He says that he poured out his blood for you and for many and that we are to be followers of his which includes imitating him in the full embrace of our cross. Laying down his life for all, He calls us to do the same, to lay down our lives for others for the sake of the Gospel.

Today, let us remember the Good News which God has said to us and about us. And let us live and love this Good News which will save us our lives.
