He knows YOU and loves YOU.
Luke 6:12-19
What is striking in this passage is the concept of individuality. After summoning his followers, Jesus chose twelve of them as his ‘apostles.’ The gospel passage then takes pains to name each one and to individualise them. Everything is personal to Jesus. He then meets a crowd of followers, numerous people waiting to be cured, and he individually cures them of diseases and unclean spirits.
The thing is none of this was an easy task. He spent the whole night in prayer to God the night before. The easier choice would have been to wave his hand over the crowd and say, ‘You all are cured.’After all, he had the power to do that. This was never Jesus’ approach. He loves us individually; he looks into our eyes and sees us individually. Our response too must be a personal one, like the people in the crowd who were trying to touch him individually.
Respond to Jesus as he is reaching out to you on an individual basis. He knows YOU and loves YOU.
