“Do not be. Afraid; from now on it is people you will be catching.”
Luke 5: 1-11
Jesus first stood by the waters’ edge proclaiming the word, I am sure Peter was not paying Jesus any mind. So, Jesus had to step it up a notch. He then sat in Peter’s boat and asked Peter to take Him a little way out, not too deep at first. Peter was probably wondering where this was all going. When Jesus felt Peter was ready, He then commanded Peter to cast out into the deep. In other words, trust Me, I have big plans for you. Then, the big reveal-the big catch!
So it is with us: Jesus meets us where we are and then begins the courtship. When the soul begins to respond with humility, the Holy Spirit delightfully captures more and more until He reveals Himself to the degree, we are willing to receive Him.
May we respond today with humility to Jesus’ command-Duc et Altum! Rest assured we shall have enough for ourselves and others.
