Tuesday September 3rd: Teach, but do good.

“And the news about Him spread”

Luke 4.31-37

Words without action are like nothing. In today’s gospel we see Jesus’ teaching, but at the same time He drives out an impure spirit. This is for us as Christians a profound message of putting our faith in action. It is so easy to see the poor and their suffering, injustice and other societal ills and do nothing. Often, we may even take the position it is none of our business until it strikes at our doorstep.
Our mission is to spread the Good News to all the Nations. How we do this will vary based on our own situation and environment. I am truly impressed by the work of Eternal Life Ministry in the Sea Lots area, labouring in the community for years and now an Educational Institution, that will make a difference to the lives of many residents in that marginalized community and beyond
We can spread the news about Him by reaching out and by our good deeds. Let us ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit for discernment on what we can do. Amen.
