“Hypocrites!”
Matthew 23:27-32
Whenever I read scripture, I place myself in the scene I’m reading.
This is a tough one.
Who am I in this scenario?
Am I a genuine believer or a counterfeit believer??
We paint a picture of ourselves as being all pious and holy, but God knows us. He can see us. From the inside.
These scribes rejected the living Word of God. These Pharisees could not see and acknowledge The Christ. They painted themselves holy and above reproach to everyone.
Ahh, but Jesus saw them for who they were. And He sees us too, from the inside.
Hypocrites!! He called them.
Hypocrites He is calling us too, if we refuse to examine our consciences, acknowledge our wrongdoings and do our best to walk in truth and righteousness.
We have a chance to accomplish this at Confession. A fresh new coat of paint is received at the Sacrament of Reconciliation. On the outside, and from the inside as well.
“Lord Jesus, help me to see myself as You see me, from the inside🙏🏾“
