The Holy Spirit put it in my heart to write about trusting God through difficult times. I know a thing or two about challenging times and even about waiting on God’s timing. However, there’s so much to be said about waiting in hope. For certain, God promises never to leave or forsake us, He promises a future far from what we could ever imagine. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you…plans to give you hope and a future”. So, how do we wait although it hurts? Sometimes while waiting, we may not receive any answers or may even see others prospering, happy or generally life seems to be favourable for them. If this applies to you, then, you may be in a waiting season. During such times, do not be tempted to take matters into your own hands.
We live in an instant and fast-paced world. We want everything to be done quickly. However, sometimes the answer is to wait simply. I’ve learned over the years instead of asking Lord ‘Why me?’, to ask instead, ‘Lord what are You teaching me through this? What do You want me to learn?’. God has a greater perspective of life than we can ever have. Peter 3:8 “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day.” This is a reminder to us that His plans and His timing is perfect. Although we may feel as if eternity passes us by, in reality, our eternity is what happens after our human life has ended. Eternity is where we will spend the rest of our lives in spirit.
Waiting on God is never easy. Your faith is tested but take comfort in the fact that He knows exactly what situation you are facing even now. He already knows the
outcome. He has already worked the situation out. He is the Beginning and the End. He is the Way Maker and Miracle Worker. While waiting though, let us continue to be faithful to Him. Continue to serve Him. Spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and wait in joyful hope just knowing that He already has our lives in His hands. Your harvest will soon come.
