Friday August 9th: Eternity, our priority

Living with a desire for eternity helps us navigate the challenges and hurdles of life with faith and perseverance.

Matthew 16: 24 – 28

In challenging His followers to become better and more committed disciples, Jesus asks, “What, then, will a man gain if he wins the whole world and ruins his life?” The question highlights the value of eternal life. In a culture obsessed with material success and instant gratification, we are reminded that our ultimate goal is not to accumulate wealth or status but to nurture our relationship with God.

We are destined for eternity, and that should be our priority. We are called to invest in our spiritual growth through prayer, reading Scripture, and engaging in acts of charity and justice. By doing so, we embrace God’s will and prepare for the life to come.

Living with a desire for eternity helps us navigate the challenges and hurdles of life with faith and perseverance. We know that our present sufferings are temporary and that a glorious future awaits us in the presence of God. The question then is, ‘Are we investing in our spiritual wellbeing and living with eternity as our goal?
