Feast of the Transfiguration.
“This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”
Mark 9: 2 – 10.
Like the three disciples in the passage, we are on that journey to and with God the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. Likewise, our journey to God has peak moments when the ground is holy, and very much like Peter, we want them to last forever. But Jesus, ‘only Jesus’, brings us down the mountain and prepares us for the hard times ahead, living on the memory of brief transfigurations.
We must recall these snippets of radiance and use them as fuel for our ministry, witnessing God’s true Son, Jesus Christ, and committing ourselves to ‘listen to him’ as God invites us.
Lord, keep us open to these moments and ever mindful of your desire to infuse our lives and our ministry with the radiance of your presence. Amen
