Walking for Mayreau

‘Walk for Mayreau’ fundraising walk takes place on Saturday, August 3 in aid of the church of the Immaculate Conception on the island of Mayreau, southern Grenadines. The church was flattened by Hurricane Beryl on July 1.

There are three starting points: from St Finbar’s at Morne Coco, participants are invited to give a $300 contribution which includes a specially designed jersey; from St John’s Diego Martin, $100 contribution and from St Anthony’s Petit Valley, $100 contribution.

The three walks proceed toward the Church of the Nativity, Crystal Stream. Meeting time at all churches is 6.30 a.m. Archbishop Emeritus Robert Rivas OP is inviting people to walk with him and parishioners from St Finbar’s; priests and deacons lead the walks from St John’s and St Anthony’s.

Archbishop Rivas said in the St Anthony’s Parish Update: “You may also choose to sponsor a mile or more with personal monetary gifts to the value of your own choosing. Let us show solidarity with those who have lost everything in the southern Grenadines. Your support and generosity will help rebuild their place of worship and restore hope to their community. Thank you for your compassion. Let’s walk together.”
