“Mary has chosen the better part.”
Luke 10:38-42
Martha welcomed Jesus into her home. However, Martha, like so many of us, gets distracted with all the works of service to Him: supplying the flowers for the altar, music for church, cleaning the church and having the altar cloths laundered, Church decor, meals for Father and the list of serving can go on.
All these are indeed good and necessary work. However, there needs to be balance.
Jesus said, spending time in His presence is the better part. Eucharistic Adoration and studying Him in His Word, is the better part.
We have recently completed a 33-day journey to Eucharistic Consecration. Are our churches and adoration rooms fuller or more regularly visited? Not so much with petitions, but like Mary, sitting in His presence, listening and adoring Him. Let us all challenge ourselves to make time to go visit Jesus more often. It is an honor and a privilege to be invited by Him.
May our Lord Jesus Christ, present in all the monstrances and tabernacles of the world, be visited and adored more and more.
