The word of God never returns void once planted in rich soil.
Matthew 13: 1-9
A beautiful thing about the richness of our faith is that we have the example of the inspiring lives of the saints. Their true devotion together with God’s help allow them to cultivate the kind of soil which produces good fruit.
We are called to become saints. However, we must examine the soil types we cultivate in our lives. Are the seeds falling along pathways where the enemy steals them before they sprout? Are they planted in rocky places, growing shallow roots and weak seedlings destroyed by the sun? Are they among the confusion and clutter of thorns and weeds which choke the seedlings thus preventing maturity? Or, are we allowing ourselves to be tilled and enriched over and over like the lives of the saints, until we can maintain a soil which promotes growth and produces fruit a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold?
The word of God never returns void once planted in rich soil. Let us pray to have ears to hear this encouraging parable our Saviour has given us, so that we too can become saints.
