The Catholic News extends congratulations to the students at the 118 Catholic RC schools who collected their results from the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) on June 28. A total of 18,177 students sat the exam.
Among the schools celebrating their outstanding results this year are Nelson Street Girls’ RC, Maracas RC, San Fernando Boys’ RC and Sacred Heart Girls’ RC. More on the performance of RC schools in a coming issue.
Meanwhile, the Education Ministry provided an analysis of the SEA results, which indicated marginal improvement in Mathematics from 50.4 per cent in 2023 to 50.7 per cent in 2024. A bigger increase was seen in English Language Arts Writing, with a mean of 59 per cent this year compared with 53.4 per cent in 2023.
However, there was a decrease in the mean score for English Language Arts, from 61.6 per cent last year to 53.4 per cent this year.
There were also marginal changes in the number of students scoring less than 30 per cent: 13.55 per cent in 2023 and 14.39 per cent in 2024. The percentage of students scoring above 90 per cent was 1.42 per cent in 2024 and 2.11 per cent in 2023. The percentage of students scoring above 50 per cent was 57.91 per cent in 2024, compared to 58.06 per cent in 2023.
