“Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock.”
Matthew 7:21-29
Jesus is speaking, not only to his twelve disciples, but also to the people who were gathered there and to us.
Jesus warns us and threatens us, “…not those who say Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven.”
“Away from me, you evil men,” he will say. “The person who does the will of my Father in heaven will enter the kingdom of heaven.”
What is the will of Jesus’ Father, our Father, as Jesus taught us to call Him in the Lord’s Prayer? God’s will is the foundation rock on which a sensible man builds his house. We must put God first in our words, deeds, and actions.
God’s will is for us to love Him with all our heart, our mind, our soul and our strength…and love our neighbors as ourselves; to feed the hungry and love enemies out of love, not for money or fame.
