Wednesday June 26th: A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit

“Thus, you will know them by their fruits.”

Matthew 7:15-20

Jesus warns that false prophets will appear innocent and harmless, they will come to you in sheep’s clothing, full of support and appear knowledgeable. Their appearance is deceptive, and their effect is deadly, playing on one’s vulnerability and ignorance of the Word so they can prosper off of you.
Fruit is a metaphor for what they produce. People initiate fruits that reflect their true nature. Good fruit is the positive actions brought forth by a person’s character or beliefs, an alignment with God’s principles. Bad fruit reveals deceptions or harmful consequences.
“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” This remark informs that God will deal with false prophets. He won’t even let them continue to take up space within His gardens. His judgment will be upon them.
If someone claims to speak for God, then pay attention to what comes out of their lives before following what they say. A person’s relationship with God, whether positive or negative, would have some visible signs.
