Father’s Day fun!

Father’s Day is one that is not as recognised as Mother’s Day, but it is equally important to celebrate the hardworking dads and males in our lives who have contributed to growing, nurturing, and protecting us.

Many times, we often forget or underappreciate the role of a father in a child’s life. However, we must remember the vital importance of our Eternal Father and take reference from this.

So, what can we do this Father’s Day to show dad we care? Here are some fun activities that we can try:

  • Take dad fishing. There are many great fishing spots where you and your dad can relax. Whether it’s the boardwalk in Chaguaramas or Mayaro, in freshwater or saltwater, fishing is a sport that everyone will love. One tip while fishing is to ensure that you release any juvenile fish that may be caught to protect our natural fisheries. If you want to make it a Father’s Day weekend, extend the fun by camping out.
  • Plant a few trees. This activity has been a timeless one. Planting a tree with your dad is a memorable experience. If you don’t have a backyard space, you can visit a deforested area and plant your tree there.
  • Hike to a waterfall. Avocat Waterfall, Rio Seco Waterfall, Turure Waterfall and Paria Waterfall are a few popular waterfalls in Trinidad, and for Tobago, there is the popular Argyle Waterfall. A fun-filled day hiking and enjoying the outdoors is perfect for the adventurous dads who love nature.
  • Give dad his favourite gardening gifts. If your dad loves DIY (Do It Yourself) projects, especially garden projects, you can stock up on the perfect gifts such as trimming secateurs, weed whacker/mower, cutting, or trimming power tool, new gloves, rubber boots and garden overalls.

Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, godfathers, grandfathers, and father figures!
