Twenty-eight students of Malabar RC Primary School received Jesus in the Sacrament of Holy Communion May 28 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Malabar. Parish priest Fr Kizito Ameloko VC celebrated Holy Mass.
The children were anxious to receive their First Communion as they were fully prepared by their catechist Alisha Gouveia-Maraj. Evidence of this was the smile on Fr Kizito’s face when he asked them what is Communion to which they responded, “The Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.” Father instantly asked the congregation to give a round of applause for the reply.
On this special day, Fr Kizito also celebrated his eighth anniversary of ordination to the priesthood. It was indeed a double celebration as the candidates received both the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and Fr Kizito dedicated on his saxophone, his rendition of ‘Goodness of God’ to the candidates. A delightful surprise which earned Fr Kizito a standing ovation from some parents. A wonderful day as these children received Jesus for the first time and continue to receive Him at Holy Mass.
