Saturday June 1st: Supporters

‘Nor will I tell you my authority for acting like this.’

Mark 11: 27 – 33

One could hope that in 2,000 years humanity would have risen above pulling each other down.

Today’s gospel reminds me of all the current sayings to keep your movements only to yourself so that the detractors and nay sayers don’t bring you down.

And here we have Jesus, 2,000 years ago, going through the same thing. Thankfully, he found the disc, true supporters.

St. Justin, whose feast day we celebrate today, convert from a pagan family, travelling to foreign lands and establishing a school, could he have faced opposition?

Makes me wonder, can I call myself a true supporter to the people in my life or more importantly to the strangers I come across. Really sends the message home to truly be Christian is in the little things like Saint Thérèse.

I pray today for the grace to be supportive and encouraging to the people I encounter.

Amen.
