Feast of Corpus Christi
“He took bread, and when He had said the blessing, He broke it and gave it to them.”
Mark 14:12-16, 22-26
We in synod mode, so together as church we journeying.
These past 33 days the journey was life-giving,
And we know the final destination will be fulfilling.
We, the Mystical Body of Christ, pause at this landmark to celebrate
Corpus Christi, Mystery of our Faith.
As we consecrate our lives, let’s contemplate:
Jesus, Priest as well as Victim.
We, the Body of Christ fed by His Body, become one with Him.
Bread broken for us to make us whole
Sustaining us with food for the soul,
So that we in turn will be bread for others.
Food for the journey,
Is the same as the feast towards which we journey.
Foretaste of the eternal banquet,
Eucharist is indeed Source and Summit!
Even though our human mind can’t conceive it.
We have to ‘Trust. Surrender. Believe. Receive.’
So, today as we approach the Eucharistic table
Let us as a faithful and faith-filled people,
Do so with great joy and thanksgiving for the journeying,
And treasure this priceless gift that for us is life-giving.
