The Most Holy Trinity
“I will be with you always; yes, to the end of time.”
Matthew 28:16-20
The eleven disciples understood the importance of being called by Jesus to discipleship. Their mission was entrusted to them, and they did what they were commissioned to do. We also have a clear mission. Like them, we worship Jesus, but we also possess doubts. Matthew is asking us to be intentional about facing and dealing with our internal dynamics of doubt.
Jesus knows we are weak, and we will always need spiritual nourishment to fulfil his mission. He assures us today that we are going out there in the name of the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that he is with us “to the very end of time.”
The disciples’ mission was life-long. They were totally consumed by the love of Jesus and possessed a desire to follow in his steps. One very significant function of a disciple is to make disciples of all nations. We pray for the grace to remain open to Jesus’ mission and to understand ours.
Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Spirit, may we constantly ponder the words, “I will be with you always; yes, to the end of time.”
