YEAC helps  to keep homes safe

ST LUCIA

The Youth Emergency Actions Committee (YEAC) donated 100 smoke alarms to be distributed to needy homes mainly in the north of the island with the assistance of the Saint Lucia Fire Service. The donation was made possible through the assistance of USAID and the Catholic Relief Services (CRS). Marcia Haywood, Regional Coordinator for Caritas Antilles, and Project Administrator for YEAC stated that this is one of the many initiatives of YEAC in assisting vulnerable persons within the community.

Mabius Francis, Assistant Divisional Officer of The Saint Lucia Fire Service received the alarms on behalf of the Fire Service, said a release from Catholic Television Broadcasting Service.

The YEAC is an organised community youth group that has been trained and prepared to be the first respondents within the community in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. YEAC is funded and supported through Caritas which is the humanitarian arm of the Catholic Church.
