The process for the Cause of Beatification of Archbishop Gordon Anthony Pantin is “steadily moving forward”.
Fr Christopher Lumsden, the Postulator of the Cause gave an update to The Catholic News on March 7 saying: “We have just about completed our interviews and received the historical commission’s report, a report with theological censors.”
There is still a lengthy process in preparing all the documents for submission to Rome. In 2013, the Church in Trinidad and Tobago began the diocesan phase of the process of beatification and canonisation.
Fr Lumsden said the prayers of the faithful are needed for the continuation and success of the Cause. Fr Lumsden reminded the public of Archbishop Pantin’s love for the nation.
“Let us pray for his intercession for our nation. Also, we need to pray for the miracle as data for his canonisation.”
March 12 was 24 years since the passing of Archbishop Pantin; he was 70 years. On March 19, 1968 on the Feast of St Joseph, he was installed, becoming the first local bishop of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain.
