Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Tacarigua, one of the Holy Trinity RC Parish Communities celebrated its Patronal Feast Day and 107th Anniversary on February 11 with a Feast Day Mass. The theme for this year was Where is Mary pointing us today (John 2:5). His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.”
The community began this significant occasion with a week of celebrations which included the praying of the Rosary, the Novena, and a Triduum. The Rosary and Novena Prayers were prayed both virtually, and physically before the celebration of Mass at the church. Our parish priest Fr Gregory McLawrence CSSp and three other priests were invited to celebrate Mass and present the talk which was incorporated in their homily.
Fr McLawrence shared on God’s favour being with Jesus Christ and His favour continues to be with us.
Fr Eliaza Mulemba CSSp pointed us to the heart of Jesus saying when we pray, it is a journey and a vehicle used to talk to Jesus. He also reminded us that prayer is a heart-to-heart conversation and there is a special line to talk to Jesus. Fr Stephan Alexander shared on compassion and that Mother Mary is pointing us to her son Jesus who continues to touch us from within. Fr Alexander also shared that once we have compassion for ourselves, we would have compassion for others.
Fr David Khan said that we are greater than our shortcomings and Mother Mary knows our potential. He said that we need to be like Mary and must always remember that nothing is impossible for God.
On February 10, Mass was celebrated for the shut-ins and sick. Families, caregivers, and friends were also invited to attend. Our celebrant was Fr Mulemba. There was a sharing after the Mass.
The culmination of the week of spiritual reflection ended with one Mass in the Parish on February 11. Fr Gregory Augustine CSSp was our chief celebrant and Fr McLawrence concelebrated.
In his homily, Fr Augustine reminded all those in attendance that “The Christian is the person with a heart who loves and serves. We are called to have the heart of Christ.” The parishioners were invited to a sharing after Mass. The entire occasion was indeed a momentous one.
