Fasting creates a sense of longing and hunger, both spiritually and physically.
Matthew 9: 14 – 15
Jesus said, “The time will come for the bridegroom to be taken away from them, and then they will fast”. Firstly, about fasting. Fasting can be seen as an act of longing, preparation, and anticipation for a deeper relationship with the bridegroom, Jesus Christ. Secondly, about the time for fasting. We are beginning the holy season of Lent. This is the time the Church invites us to fast and abstain as part of our ongoing faith life and practice. This is a time of fasting.
Fasting creates a sense of longing and hunger, both spiritually and physically. It helps us to hunger more for Christ. It involves not having certain foods and activities so that we can purify our minds, hearts and bodies, and make room for a more profound relationship with Christ.
Fasting cultivates a sense of expectation among believers. We prepare to meet Christ in a special way. Fasting helps us to detach ourselves from material things so as to create space for a more intimate relationship with Christ.
