Tuesday January 30th: Talitha Kum!

“Talitha Kum. Little girl, come forth”

Mark 5:21-43

The Lord called the little girl in today’s gospel. “Little girl”, He said, “Come forth.”

Young children, in their innocence, can be so obedient and trusting. They follow instructions, sometimes without question.

Each day the Lord calls us too. “Come forth little brother, come forth little sister, with the trust of a child, come forth and I will give you life, a new and exciting life.
Life, when others saw only death. I, your Lord, will give you life.”

May we believe as trusting children, when we too hear “Talitha Kum” being whispered to our hopeless and lifeless situations;
to our dark places of depression and procrastination;
amidst the negative drone of mourners and doubters;
to the mire of our addictions and our unforgiveness.

Let that child in us be awakened to laugh and dance and sing again.

Our Lord also told them
“Give her something to eat.”
May we rise hungry and thirsting for righteousness.

Lord Jesus, give us the grace to hear and obey Your voice, as You whisper to us “Talitha Kum.” Amen.
