“And the whole city was gathered round the door.”
Mark 1:29-39
The people tell Jesus ‘at once’ that Simon’s mother-in-law is ill, and He heals her promptly. Just as promptly, she sets about to serve everyone. What deep faith!
All the other people present, like Simon’s mother-in-law, recognize that Jesus is the bearer of Healing Graces and they all crowd around Simon’s house in order to be healed. And indeed, they are all healed. Whenever we are in need of Jesus’ healing – and that is always — we have only to reach out to Him, in faith, and we are sure to experience His merciful love and healing. He gives generously to all who call on Him.
We must note too, that Jesus always took time out to pray, as well as to proclaim the Good news of His Father’s Kingdom to all. He continues to share this message today. As we live with each other and among each other, let us take the time to listen to Jesus and keep His message alive in our own hearts and the hearts of others. Amen.
