“The Light lives in us.”
John 1:1-18
Today a Saviour is born to us, He is Christ the Lord! He is Christ our Light! What truly joyful news to receive and share.
It is Christmas day, and the Christian world celebrates the Incarnation, the Word made flesh. We commemorate that great event when God came to us, and we celebrate that, indeed, God is always with us. For many people though, Christmas is not ‘Christmasing’. There is too much darkness, too much sorrow, and many are tempted to withdraw. Yet, let us never forget that no matter what your Christmas season looks like this year, no matter the darkness that may surround, the Light walks among us. He lives in our world today. The Light lives in us.
The whole of the Catholic community is reminded of this every Christmas morning: “A light shines in the darkness, a light that darkness could not overpower.”
May the Hope, Peace, Joy and Love of the Lord be with you and yours this Christmas day and beyond. May the Light shine for you today and always. Amen.
