“Praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen.”
Luke 21: 34 – 36
Has there ever been a time when this gospel didn’t hit home? Maybe “in the beginning” with Adam and Eve but even that blissful happiness did not last forever.
We need to watch ourselves, not just against debauchery and drunkenness, but also against the cares of this world. In our time, that is the creeper. It is so easy to get wrapped up in activities and plans or allow ourselves to be brought down by worries.
If not vigilant, these things can lead us away from God. As simple as choosing an activity over weekend Mass or prioritizing children’s schoolwork to Sunday school. Then the slippery slope begins, and we are too tired to pray or in too much of a hurry to make time for God.
I pray today that God opens my eyes to all the things that lead me away from Him and gives me the strength to return.
Amen.
